The Memorial Day Parade for 2021 has been cancelled, however the Memorial ceremony will still be held at Hillside Cemetery, Monday May 31st. Look for an update for times and events for that day.
We will host a Flag Day ceremony at the Post on Sunday, June 13th at 1:00PM to celebrate our Nation's Colors. We will have a speaker to relate the history of the Flag, as well as handing out small American Flags and stickers & comic books to the younger crowd.
If the town has fireworks, we will be there with a table to answer questions about The American Legion and veteran's benefits, as well as providing hand outs to veterans and to the young people. If the town does not have fireworks, we will be set up in front of the Post with everything. Stay Tuned!
We will host a showing of the movie: Navajo Code Talkers, their story in their own words. This is a fascinating behind the scenes story of a remarkable unit in WWII! Seating is limited to 35, so you must call or email for reservations. Water & juice will be available for free, a $5.00 per person donatover the age of 12
We will hold our annual Flag retirement in the backyard of the Post beginning at 12:00 PM. Boy and Girl Scouts are invited as well as the public. Immediately following, we will hold our picnic for all who participated, and their families.
We will celebrate our October 1st birthday on this 2nd day, with a video of our past, plus a birthday cake. Join us for an indoor/outdoor event at the Post.
This year, we will recognize all our veterans on Thursday the 11th, at the Wilton Veterans Memorial with a ceremony beginning at 10:30 AM. Afterwards, we visit various schools in the area to attend the programs each school has planned. More information will follow.
Look for more information on dates, but we will be in front of the Post handing out candy and safety tips for parents and children when they go trick or treating. Join us to see all the amazing costumes that these children don for the day!
Annual tradition, we decorate the Post and then open up for visitors to see our decorations inside, as well as for some hot cider. Bring the family to see what the Holiday spirit does for Post 86!
